It is the goal of haven missions to do all we can to provide for the orphans of Liberia's civil war. What we are striving for at present is to:
- build an orphanage to house 75 kids
- build a school to educate 500 kids free of charge
- build a clinic to provide free health care to kids in the community
- create a free after-school vocational training program for our orphans, and women and youth in the community
- provide free safe drinking water (people buy water in Liberia - it's not free anywhere) and regular hygiene classes for people and youth in the community to help prevent cholera, dysentery and diarrhea
- carve out a 25 acre cash crop farm to serve as primary source of food for the orphans and their caregivers as well as provide funding for our after-school programs.
We hope to take the lessons learned and experiences gained from Laila and Nadia Bitar, survivors of the civil war, and use the resources they can gather to bring aid and comfort to that war's smallest victims.
